Artist Development: From An Agent's Perspective

Earlier today, Alma Ernst visited Catalyst Berlin to run a workshop with their students on artist development from an agent's perspective.

Catalyst Berlin is a school for artists. The room was full of musicians at different stages of their careers, all thinking seriously about where they are and where they want to go. That made for a good session.

The workshop moved through a set of honest questions. What actually makes a project unique, not in theory but right now. Who the audience really is and where they exist. The difference between talent, which is what already works, and potential, which depends on the right conditions. And how social media fits into all of it, not as a burden but as a record of the work.

Most artists navigate these questions alone. Having someone with real experience sit in the room and think through it together makes a difference.

The discussion went deep. The students asked sharp questions and stayed engaged throughout. Alma left the room genuinely glad to have been there. This is the kind of session that reminds you why education in this industry matters.

Thank you to Catalyst Berlin for the invitation and to everyone who took part.
